Advisor Ganai inspects government schools in Sonwar | KNO

Calls for regular capacity building of teachers to improve teaching skills

SRINAGAR, JULY 14 (KNO) : The Advisor to Governor, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai today visited government run schools in Sonwar area in Srinagar to personally take stock of the educational and infrastructural facilities in these educational institutions. The Advisor, was during the inspection of schools, accompanied by Director School Education Kashmir Dr G N Itoo, Chief Education Officer Srinagar M K Fazili and other officials.

The team led by the Advisor conducted a detailed inspection of Government Girls Higher Secondary School and Government Boys High School in Sonwar to have firsthand appraisal of their functioning. Ganai visited the classes and library in both the schools and interacted with teachers and students to assess the quality of teaching and learning.

The Advisor on the occasion stressed on improving the quality of education. “Education is a two-way process, when quality of teaching is improved quality of learning will also improve automatically,” he said and added “We have to create scientific temper among the students and make them competition worthy”. He said the students have to be made ready for academic excellence at global standards and for this quality of teaching and learning has to improve substantially.

Emphasizing on capacity building of teachers he said, “Knowledge is not stagnant so at all times there is room for capacity building of teachers both in schools as well as at college level.” The Advisor said there are new schemes and initiatives to improve quality of teaching and learning which will help in improving learning outcome in a substantial way. He directed the school managements to ensure attendance of all teachers is marked through bio-metric system. He said biometric attendance in all government schools will greatly enhance element of accountability and ensure proper education and completion of syllabus on time. Ganai was also given briefing about the academic activities, conduct of examinations, and attendance of students by the school in-charges.
